Christmas treat in The Bluebells

MORE than 100 children enjoyed a magical Christmas treat at a festive party held by charity Sebastian’s Action Trust.

The winter wonderland-themed event for seriously-ill children and their brothers and sisters was held in a marquee in the grounds of the trust’s holiday respite house in North Waltham.

The afternoon was packed with festive activities with the children and their parents able to climb inside a giant snow globe and enjoy some time playing in the snow and having family pictures taken.

They were able to visit Santa, sit in his sleigh, feed the reindeer, compete on the video car racing games, have their faces painted, watch magic shows, have a go at Christmas crafts, and take to the dance floor.

Britain’s Got Talent 2012 contestant 13-year-old Lauren Thalia, from Basingstoke, performed at the party alongside the You Sing Singers from the You Rock Music School.

Jane Gates, director of Sebastian’s Action Trust, said: “We had a great afternoon. It was lovely to see so many of the families we support all together and enjoying themselves.

“The event is designed to give children who face incredible challenges throughout the year a well-deserved Christmas treat.”

Susan Murray, from Petty’s Brook Road, Chineham, attended with her four-year-old daughter Molly, who has quadriplegic cerebral palsy, and her eight-year-old daughter Tabitha.

Susan, 41, a lettings director, said: “Both my daughters really loved the party. I think when they walked in, they were quite amazed.

“I think the nicest thing for us is just to meet all the other families – that’s the bit we really enjoy. I think Molly has a good awareness that there were other children in wheelchairs and similar situations to her, and she seems to respond to that quite well.”
