A MAN was severely beaten up by a gang of thugs in a children's play park in Popley.

Police are appealing for witnesses in a bid to trace the group.

The attack happened between 10.55pm and 11.15pm on November 30. Police said the 38-year-old was walking through the park at the end of Bermuda Close when he was approached by a group of up to six men.

The victim was punched, kicked and stamped on. His suffered cuts, bruises, and eye injuries.

Police have released descriptions of two of the men wanted in connection with the incident. The first is described as white, of medium build, about 5ft 11ins, and in his early 20s. He had a shaved head, and wore a black leather jacket, blue jeans, and Nike air force trainers.

Another attacker was white, skinny, and 5ft 8ins tall. He had short dark hair and wore a blue Adidas tracksuit top and bottoms.

“This was an unprovoked attack which left the man with a number of injuries,” said PC Jenny Farr from Basingstoke police. “I would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time or who has information about this incident.”
