Basingstoke school 'requires improvement' according to Ofsted
7:30am Wednesday 5th December 2012 in Local By Emily Roberts, Chief Reporter
A BASINGSTOKE junior school has been told by Ofsted that it “requires improvement.”
In 2009, under the old Ofsted framework, Oakridge Junior School was graded as “satisfactory”. But under the new guidelines, schools cannot be given this grade.
A report published on November 19 said the school, in Oakridge Road, needs to improve teaching and pupil achievement. Behaviour and leadership were both graded as “good.”
The inspector said headteacher Diane Charman “leads her school with passion and total commitment.”
But the report added that pupils have underachieved in the last three years and not all classes are taught “equally well.”
