WORK has begun to build a new supermarket on the edge of Basingstoke.
Diggers have been demolishing buildings off the A33 in Chineham where the new Lidl store will be built.
The store will be 1,458sqm and will replace a unit on the site which used to be an office.
As previously reported in The Gazette, Centurion Properties and Scottish Widows Invest-ment Partnership has been granted outline planning permission to convert two units, Impact and Isis House, from offices into retail units.
The second, larger unit, which is in excess of 2,000sqm, will be occupied by Dunelm Mill, which sells homeware products including curtains and cushions and has 127 stores in the UK.
