First published in News

A MAN was punched in the head by two thugs in the early hours of Friday as he walked through the Buckskin area of Basingstoke.

Detectives say the 22-year-old was assaulted in the alleyway between Charnwood Close and Quantock Close by two men in their 20s.

The attack took place at about 2am and the victim suffered injuries to his head that required stapling.

Detective Constable Simon Quickfall, from Basingstoke CID, said: “The victim was walking home after spending the evening with friends when he was attacked and punched to the head.

“The victim was wearing a distinctive white sweatshirt with a large gorilla motif on the front. Did you see him before the assault? Did you see him afterwards?

“I’d also like to hear from anyone who may have seen a grey BMW 3-series in the area around that time. If you have any information that can help with our investigation, please get in touch.”

Anyone with any information should contact Det Con Quickfall at Basingstoke police station on 101 or the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
