POLICE in Basingstoke have issued a photograph of a man they would like to speak to in connection with an assault.

The incident took place at around 11.15am yesterday (Wednesday, November 21) in Quilter Road, Basingstoke.

The victim, a 51-year-old man, was walking his dog when he was hit twice to the back of his head causing bruising.

PC Lee Bishop from Basingstoke police station said: “I would ask anyone who recognises the man in this picture to contact the police as we think he may be able to assist with the investigation.

“I’d also like to hear from anyone who witnessed the assault. It is likely that there were other dog walkers in the area at the time.”

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact PC Bishop at Basingstoke police station by telephoning 101. Mini-Com users can call the police on 18001 101. Information can be given anonymously by calling the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
