KINGSCLERE Parish Council has reversed a decision to relinquish its status as a Quality Parish Council.
In May this year, the parish council decided to give up the title on the grounds it cost too much to send out newsletters – a requirement of being a QPC - and that the benefits of maintaining the status were not clear.
Just two months later, the council resigned en masse because of disagreements. The newly-elected council has now decided unanimously to re-apply for QPC status, but with a view to keeping costs down.
Councillor Janet Bond, who proposed the move, said the benefits of retaining the status included improved access to funding opportunities.
