THIEVES barricaded the front door and made off with £6,000 in cash from a Basingstoke house.
The burglary took place between 4pm and 10pm on Saturday at an address in Vivian Road, Oakridge.
Police say the offenders used tools to force open the backdoor of the property before searching every room, leaving possessions strewn around the house. They barricaded the front door with clothes racks and then made off with £6000 in cash.
PC Mark Pullman, of Basingstoke police, said the theft had taken place on a fairly busy road. He added: “I am hopeful that someone would have seen or heard something that could help us find the people responsible.
“I am appealing to anyone who may have heard something or may have seen anyone acting suspiciously or out of place at the time of the incident to get in touch with us.”
Anyone with any information should contact PC Pullman at Basingstoke police station on 101, or call the Crimestoppers charity, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
