A MAN is reported to have turned over a pushchair holding a seven-month-old baby.

The incident occurred between 1.30pm and 2pm on Thursday (November 15) as a woman with pushchair was walking along an alleyway between Basingstoke railway station and Soper Grove in South View.

An unknown man approached her and grabbed the pushchair. The woman’s seven-month old son was in the pushchair at the time. The man then shook the pushchair and in the process knocked it over. He then walked off towards the train station.

Police say there is no suggestion that the man was trying to take the child and fortunately, neither the woman nor her baby were injured.

The man is described as white, in his 30s, about 5ft 8ins and of medium build. He had distinctively large eyebrows and was wearing a black hooded top with a Nike logo, jeans and black trainers with orange shoe laces.

PC James Hope said: “I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed this incident – in particular, I’d like to trace two women who were walking along Soper Grove when it took place. Although no one was injured , the victim was very frightened by this incident."
