A RIOT of colour has erupted in a hospital building where birthday celebrations are in progress.

More than 30 artists are displaying 90 pieces of work in the public spaces of The Ark Centre, to celebrate its 10th anniversary.

The display will run until Thursday, November 29, and includes paintings, sculptures and photography, which are for sale. They are mainly in the foyer, atrium and BlueCafeBar of the medical education and conference centre, which is in the grounds of Basingstoke hospital, Aldermaston Road.

Each artist will donate 20 per cent of their sales income to The Ark Medical Trust. The Ark put out an open call to artists across the country to provide “a riot of colour” before winter.

Sandra Fell, director and chairman of The Ark Centre, said: “We’ve celebrated our anniversary in some style, with over 200 separate articles going in display to the public.”

The organisation has held two exhibitions already this year and this is the final one. Mrs Fell said: “The artists’ support has been wonderful, helping to raise the profile of the building and contributing to all the charities that call it home.”
