Video: demolition work begins on site of new Lidl store

WORK has begun to build a new supermarket in Basingstoke.

Diggers were today demolishing buildings off the A33 near Chineham, which is where low-price retailer Lidl will be built.

I agree with that. We need a Supermarket that sells quality food not another 'pile it high, sell it cheap' store.

Waitrose probably didn't want to open in basingstoke there are a lot of prime sites if they did.

Do people still have enough money to shop at waitrose? I thought we were all poor and spending less!

Then you have been taken for a ride by the "Great Recession Myth" People have money for Waitrose just as they have had money for Costa, Nandos etc. etc for years.
