Parents add to road hazard
Sir.-I feel compelled to respond to the story about residents calling for a 20mph limit on Pinkerton Road, near to the schools.
I would fully support a limit in speed. However, this should be concerned not only with the schools but also residents.
As well as a lower limit, it's perhaps a better idea to have speed humps in place as this would also put a stop to the regular evening race track that this road has become.
Young and old drivers speed at over 50mph along this road and it has become a serious hazard - at the opening and closing of school and also for the many elderly people and pet owners in the area.
As for the comment of David Harris, who purchased the "20 is Plenty" signs outside St Anne's school, I feel he would be better off spending his effort and time stopping the parents of his pupils who daily park right outside his school.
They cause a far more dangerous hazard by blocking one lane of this already busy road, when just across from the school is a more-than-adequate parking area and a school crossing person on hand.
