NEBOSH-certified workers on site
NEBOSH-certified workers on site

AN INCREASING number of large construction organisations are choosing the NEBOSH National Construction Certificate as a key part of their supervisory or management development programmes.

Delivered by the BCOT Business Unit, this is a recognised health and safety qualification designed specifically for the construction industry by an established independent examination board.

By ensuring that line managers have a sound understanding of the principles of risk management, they build an effective safety culture within the company.

Owners or managers of smaller consultancy companies have found this qualification helps them meet the requirements of clients and principal contractors when working on other people's premises or sites.

The course covers a broad range of construction hazards and the means by which they can be controlled.

It includes the main legal requirements relating to construction work and enables students to undertake effective safety inspections on a construction site.

The content has been revised in line with the new Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007.

The course is delivered one day a week over a 15-week period.

This approach allows candidates to practise what they have learned in their workplace as they progress.

The lead tutor for this course is a highly-motivated, customer-focused chartered health, safety and environmental civil engineering professional.

The tutor will have extensive experience of construction and civil engineering and the practical application of health, safety and environmental management and its integration into CDM-related projects.

This qualification is accepted by IOSH - the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health - in meeting the academic requirements for technician membership of IOSH (Tech IOSH).

The certificate is also accepted by the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM) for associate membership (AIIRSM).

The course will commence on April 29, 2008.
