Learn stone therapy at BCOT

BASINGSTOKE College of Technology is offering a number of exciting short courses in holistic therapies.

Expert lecturer Jan Sussex will offer a level two certificate in thermal auricular therapy (hopi candles) and a level three diploma in stone therapy, while reiki master Russ Crombie will run a level three diploma for reiki practitioners.

Hopi candle therapy naturally draws out excess earwax that builds up in ear canals. It can also help with tinnitus, headaches, snoring and sinus problems by a gentle sensation of clearing the head.

You will learn how the "candles" work, their application and effects and detailed anatomy of the ear.

Students must already have a VTCT/ITEC body massage qualification or equivalent for this course, which will be held over four evenings, from 6pm to 9.30pm on February 12 and 26, and April 22 and 29.

Stone therapy is an energy therapy, concerned with creating balance within the body. By alternating temperatures via stones, it brings about a chemical response within all systems of the body. The purpose of the treatment is to improve relaxation and the client's sense of wellbeing.

Stone therapy is most often used in conjunction with facial or body massage, but may also be applied separately.

Students must already have a VTCT/ITEC body massage and facial treatment qualification or equivalent for this two-day course.

The level three diploma in stone therapy will run from 9am to 5.30pm on May 27 and June 30.

Students of the level three diploma for reiki practitioners will learn the history, principles and processes of reiki healing and the effects of reiki on the aura, endocrine and chakra systems of the body.

Students can also learn the sacred symbols associated with reiki, which include the power, mental/ emotional and distance symbol, enabling them to heal remotely.

This four-day course will run from February 18 to 20, from 9am to 5.30pm, with an assessment day in April.

Students must already have a VTCT/ITEC body massage qualification or equivalent for this course.

All the above courses are Vocational Training Charitable Trust accredited and are classified as continued professional development (CPD).
