A CARE home in Basingstoke has been given a clean bill of health in its most recent inspection.

Dimensions 2 Buckby Lane, in Buckby Lane, was given a ‘good’ rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) after an inspection on February 22.

The place is designed to house four people who live with a learning disability, autism, and/or associated health needs.

The Eastrop facility was given an overall ‘good’ rating, maintaining the rating it was given in its previous inspection, getting a ‘good’ rating in all five areas that the CQC look for, including safety and effectiveness.

In the report it read: “People were kept safe from harm and staff knew what to do in order to maintain their safety. Risks to people were assessed and action was taken to minimise potential risks.

“Medicines were managed safely by trained staff and administered as prescribed.

“There were always enough staff deployed with the right mix of skills to make sure that care practice was delivered safely and to respond to unforeseen events.”

The staff were given particular praise in the report. Another part read: “People continued to experience positive caring relationships with staff who consistently treated them with kindness and compassion in their day-to-day care. Relatives consistently told us their loved ones were very happy and settled at the home.

“Staff were friendly, sensitive and discreet when providing care and support to people and were able to tell us about their life histories, families, personal interests and individual preferences. People experienced care from an attentive staff team who treated them with dignity and respect.

“Staff encouraged people to do as much for themselves as possible and to experience new things to promote their independence”

Dimensions UK, which owns and runs 2 Buckby Lane, did not wish to comment on the report.
