NORTH West Hampshire MP Kit Malthouse will host a special summit to look at what can be done to transform the area into a dementia-friendly zone.

More than 24,000 people in Hampshire have the condition and it is estimated that a further 16,446 people do not know they have the condition.

Businesses, charities, politicians and people living with the disease will be invited to the event, which is being held in partnership with Alzheimer’s Society, which is set to take place in Andover this autumn.

Mr Malthouse said: “I’ve heard firsthand about the great job Alzheimer’s Society are doing in my constituency in trying to improve diagnoses rates and care for people with the condition.

“Currently, an estimated four in 10 people with dementia in Hampshire do not receive a formal diagnosis. These people need support and access to care.”
