PEOPLE across Basingstoke are being asked to play a bigger role in shaping local healthcare by standing as a public governor.
Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust, which provides care for people with mental health, learning disabilities, social care and community services, has a vacancy for a public governor to cover the north Hampshire area which includes Basingstoke, Fleet and Alton.
Governors help to ensure that Southern Health is publicly accountable for the services it provides to local people and they provide a vital link between the public and Trust board by raising concerns and asking questions on behalf of people living in their areas.
Anyone interested in applying for the role can attend an information event at Parklands Hospital, Aldermaston Road, between 6.30pm and 8pm on May 21.
Nominations for governor elections opens on May 21 and the deadline for nominations is June 10, with the successful candidate announced in July.
