TWO hundred health care jobs are expected to be created in Basingstoke following the formation of a new partnership.

All Care has been appointed as Hampshire County Council’s lead partner for providing domestic care for pensioners in their own homes.

Now company bosses are urging people to sign up for the roles in what is one of the country’s fastest growing employment sectors.

The jobs range from entry level care assistants to care coordinators and senior carers.

The private company has been appointed as the lead provider for the authority’s Care at Home contract, and is one of 11 firms managing the county’s domiciliary care services.

All Care’s recruitment drive is part of a campaign to meet rising demand for carers fuelled by the aging population and Government emphasis on keeping people in the comfort and security of their own homes and reducing the burden on the NHS.

The firm is a part of health group Clece Care and currently provides almost 200 people with 8,000 hours a week of care, but expects this figure to rise steeply in the future.

Operations manager Matt Hibberd, who joined the company as a carer eight years ago said: “We are really delighted to have been appointed as lead partners.

“This is a really exciting time for Basingstoke and we want people in the community to get behind it and make a difference in people’s lives.

“There is a great need for care. People are living longer but also want to stay in their homes where they feel safe and where their memories are.”

He said the roles will have a mixture of full and part time hours and were on guaranteed rather than zero hours contracts adding: “These are worthwhile jobs with a career pathway into care.”

Mr Hibberd said there will be an emphasis on quality care, adding: “This will be a dignified service. These are elderly people who have done a lot for the country in the past.

“That is why we want local people in the community who know the community.”

Jane Vidler, from the council’s communications team, said: “With an increasing number of people needing care and support to help them to continue living independently in their own home, we have been working closely with All Care and the other providers to promote the benefits of a career in care, encouraging people to consider care as a flexible and rewarding employment option.”
