HEART specialists at Basingstoke hospital are hosting an open day for patients, former patients and anyone who is worried about their heart.

The cardiology team are holding the event at The Ark Conference Centre, in the grounds of the hospital, in Aldermaston Road, on January 28.

It will run from between 2pm and 6pm and is open to all.

All members of the cardiac team, including consultants, nurses and pharmacists and service managers, will be on hand to talk about their roles and to answer any questions.

Visitors will be able to look at lung function tests, ECGs, angiograms and stents and there will be information available about breathlessness clinics, the hospice and planning for care in the future.

There will also be the opportunity to find out about current research and how patients can particupate.

Sue Paterson, cardiology clinical nurse specialist, said: “We don’t often get the opportunity to talk to our patients and their families outside of our clinics, or have the chance to talk to people who are currently well but who are worried about their heart.

“Our open afternoon is a chance for us to share with anyone who is interested information about our services and also ask our patients for their feedback and how they think we might be able to improve what we do.”

There will also be films running throughout the event, which will show patients receiving difference types of cardiac care, and cardiac charities who will offer information and advice to anyone affected by cardiac problems.
