A SPECIAL event will be held next Thursday as part of a campaign to help make the borough more ‘dementia friendly’.
Charity Alzheimer’s Society is joining with major Basingstoke firm Eli Lilly to host an event at Hampshire Court Hotel, in Chineham.
The awareness event, at which Basingstoke MP Maria Miller will be the keynote speaker, will run from 9am until 1pm and will features talks from organisations and charities who work with dementia patients.
Dementia Action Alliance will explain what groups are doing on a national level, and there will be information on offer about how to become a ‘dementia friend’ – an individual who pledges to learn more about dementia and to act to make a difference. There will also be networking opportunities at the event.
