STAFF at Basingstoke hospital, who go above and beyond when caring for patients, have been shortlisted for national awards.

Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (HHFT), which runs the hospital, has been shortlisted in three categories of the national WOW! Awards which recognise outstanding customer service in the public and private sector.

HHFT chief nurse Donna Green praised the staff, saying: “The winners often tell me modestly that they were just doing their jobs. Being recognised has a huge impact on individuals, knowing that they have made a difference. It also rightly demonstrates the hard work of our staff.”

Nominee Carrie-Ann Watts, a staff nurse at Basingstoke hospital, is a finalist for this month’s awards in the WOW! That’s Really Special category, while the Critical Care Unit have been shortlisted in the WOW! What a Team category.

The unit was nominated by the family of a patient who needed their expert care and dedication.

An extract from the nomination reads: “I would like to thank every single person for the wonderful care they gave my son. I will never forget any of you for the rest of my life.”

The trust itself has also been nominated in the Best NHS Trust category.

The finalists will make presentations to the national WOW! Awards judges and the winners will be announced at a ceremony on November 24.
