A CHARITY aiming to raise £5million for a new cancer centre in north Hampshire has received a huge boost.
Greenham Common Trust has agreed to match all donations made to The Ark Cancer Centre Charity up to £500,000 – meaning that a £50 donation will be worth £100.
As an added bonus, the charity, based in The Ark, in the grounds of Basingstoke hospital, will receive an extra 25 per cent of each donation from the Gift Aid scheme.
As previously reported in The Gazette, the charity is raising £5m towards a state-of-the-art cancer centre which will be built on land between the M3, A303 and A34. The centre will offer radiotherapy, chemotherapy, support and complementary therapies.
Merv Rees, medical director of Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: “I am absolutely delighted to have the support of the Greenham Common Trust.
“Their endorsement and donor support should encourage everyone to support our project at such an exciting time. ”
