SHERFIELD school can now boast delivering some of the best teachings in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) following a recent campaign.

The school has been ranked in the top 50 schools to teach STEM subjects from Government-backed education campaign Your Life.

The rankings use school performance data from the Department for Education, covering all of England’s 2500 secondary schools. Sherfield were placed at number 30.

For Sherfield the new ranking came at the perfect time, as the school has celebrated a week of science, arts and sport.

Termed Sherfest, the week was the brainchild of the school’s Head Boy and prefect team and was designed to break down divisions between the three subject areas and illustrate their connections.

Headmaster at Sherfield school Nick Fisher said: “I received a letter last week congratulating our school on being one of the top 100 in England for science, technology, engineering and mathematics. This is a huge tribute to our maths and science teaching teams.

“It is also a fantastic start to our new STEAM initiative, which emphasises creativity in our curriculum and promotes the cross-fertilisation of ideas across artificial subject boundaries.”
