CHINESE students recently made the 6,000 mile journey from Jiangsu to Basingstoke to experience education at BCoT.
Fourteen students attending Jiangsu Food and Pharmaceutical Science College spent two weeks in July learning English and sampling a range of technical courses. As well as taking part in taster sessions such as engineering, catering and music, the students also enjoyed day trips to London and Winchester.
The two week Summer School is part of a collaborative programme between BCoT and Jiangsu College which includes staff and student exchanges, alongside plans for a joint provision of HND (Higher National Diploma) courses with China. It gave the students an opportunity to experience culture and education in England as well as gaining an insight into what BCoT has to offer them after they have completed their courses in China.
During the second week of their stay, BCoT also hosted six senior staff from Jiangsu College, in the second teacher exchange the two institutions have collaborated on.
Sean Moley, higher education and international manager at BCoT, said: “The demand for UK education in China is growing and the college has plans to share its expertise in numerous ways. The school has given a group of Chinese students the opportunity to experience education in the UK. We are increasing the amount of higher education courses we offer at BCoT and I hope this continues to bolster the number of international students we enrol each year.”
