A WINKLEBURY-based pre-school has applied for planning permission to stay at its current location.
Hampshire County Council has applied for planning permission to keep a temporary modular building where Castle Hill Pre-School is based at Fort Hill Community School, in Kenilworth Road, Winklebury.
The pre-school was first granted planning permission to be based at the secondary school in July 2003, but the planning permission period has now lapsed so they now have to re-apply.
The application says: “It is the intention to move the current facility at Fort Hill into permanent accommodation.
But due to pressure on school places in the county it has not been possible to find a space in Fort Hill to convert.
“At the moment capital funds are not available to provide a new building. Therefore this application is made to retain the existing modular building for an additional seven years, while a permanent solution is looked for.”
A decision is expected to be made by the county council by October 6.
