A TAWNY owl paid a visit to a primary school.

Staff from the Hawk Conservancy Trust, based in Andover, visited Whitchurch Primary School, in Daniel Road, for a special workshop on owls.

Pupils in Year R and Key Stage 1 listened to a power point presentation about the birds, during which they found out how to recognise an owl and heard interesting facts about the birds of prey.

The children then went outside to the school’s forest area to meet a real live owl.

Janette Sabine, an early years teacher at the school, said: “They looked at the difference between a regular bird and an owl’s feather and felt the difference. It was a really lovely morning and really informative.

“The children just thought it was really exciting.”
