A WHITCHURCH pre-school has been graded as “good” by Ofsted inspectors.

The education watchdog visited Rising Fives, in Wells Lane, on May 13.

In a report published on June 4, inspector Tracy Bartholomew said: “The management team is strong and staff work well together to provide a goodquality learning environment for the children.”

She added: “Staff know the children in their care and have good observation and assessment records in place.

“They use these proactively to enable them to provide worthwhile learning and development activities, which they tailor to meet the children’s individual needs.

“This, in turn, promotes good outcomes for children.”

The pre-school is not yet outstanding for a variety of reasons, including because some staff “direct children too much in adult-led activities.”
