CHILDREN from a Basingstoke nursery had a special visit from a CBBC television personality.

CBeebies star Mister Maker visited more than 100 children and parents at Kiddi Caru Day Nursery, in Broadmere Road, Beggarwood after the nursery won a Comic Relief competition.

Mister Maker, whose real name is Phil Gallagher, spoke to children and parents about what he had done to raise money for Comic Relief, before making his way around the eight different rooms at the nursery to help children make monkey masks.

The nursery won the visit after it was chosen by Comic Relief for its fundraising efforts on Red Nose Day, when children took part in a Go Ape-themed day.

Gemma Hobden, deputy nursery manager at Kiddi Caru, told The Gazette: “He was lovely, really friendly and he went down well with the parents.

“He walked in and there was a roar, the pre-school loved it and even the little ones.”
