KATE Jones, a stylist at image consultants House of Colour, inspired students at BCoT with an interactive talk on the importance of colour when styling.
Kate delivered her talk to BA (Hons) Textiles for Fashion students as well as Level 3 Fashion Retail and Art and Design students.
This gave learners from across the college the chance to improve their knowledge of the fashion industry from an expert in her field.
Students were used as models to demonstrate how the colours you wear impact on the way you look.
Level 3 Fashion Retail student Kelly Window said: “We learned how your skin tone can impact which colour clothing looks good on you – there are blue and yellow-based skin tones and you need to know which one is yours to get the best result.
“We were also given a demonstration on how colours suit some people and not others – I found out that black only suits around 25 per cent of people!”
Sarah Gallagher, a fashion retail lecturer at BCoT, was impressed with how students responded to Kate’s talk.
She said: “The session helped students to gain a real understanding of how colour and tones work hand-in-hand with styling.
“Kate is an industry expert and it was a great opportunity for students to learn from her and apply this knowledge in their fashion styling unit, which is an integral part of their course.”
