MEDIA students at BCoT will be able to get an insight into the workings of a creative design industry following a new partnership.

The media department at the college has announced a collaboration with Basingstoke creative design agency, The Hive Business.

Students will have the unique opportunity to work with The Hive Business on projects that will help them specialise in highly creative thinking and visually displaying their ideas in an industry setting.

The learners will work on corporate videos, websites, apps, marketing, social media, photography and animation projects in a real time commercial environment during upcoming collaborative projects and work experience.

Ian Howe, co-founder of The Hive Business, said: “We want to connect with Basingstoke people, looking for an outlet for their passion and this collaboration with BCoT links in with what we want to do in the company. We are looking to empower young people.”

The Hive Business is currently working on developing an app, Puddl, which will connect creative people with job opportunities and work experience. This partnership will allow BCoT media students to work with the company to develop elements of this.

Scott Hayden, media lecturer at BCoT, was delighted to announce the collaboration. He said: “Ian contacted me and was keen to help our students get started in the industry.

“This is an excellent opportunity for the learners to get work experience, potential apprenticeships and be involved in live projects.

“Our collaboration with The Hive Business further proves the college’s commitment to helping people prepare for university or the workplace.”
