VINCENT Larkin – an art and design lecturer at BCoT – was recently given the opportunity to take part in a residency period at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

As well as inspiring students at BCoT, Vincent is an artist who works with books, printed media, webbased media and sometimes song. Vincent, alongside his band Spin Spin the Dogs, has released an album with Gringo Records entitled Leave me in Leicester.

During his residency, Vincent created two separate hand-made illustrated books.

One told a specific story of pre-1963 British popular music, and the second explored the story of music today.

Vincent was delighted with the opportunity to take up the residency at the V&A Museum, saying: “It was great to work and create in the V&A – it is such a powerful place with so much history. The facilities were amazing and having access to the V&A archive was incredibly beneficial.”

Vincent hopes that he can use what he has learned at the V&A to benefit his students at BCoT.

“I intend to incorporate things I have learned from the V&A Museum into my lessons at the college. It is important that people who teach have their own practice. A large proportion of the staff at BCoT is industry trained which gives students an excellent example to follow.”
