A TODDLER was one of four people injured in a crash that closed the A34 near Whitchurch yesterday.
The two-year-old boy was airlifted to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford following a crash involving three cars and a caravan on the southbound carriageway.
Another person was also airlifted to the hospital, while two adults were sent to Southampton General Hospital by land ambulance.
Emergency services, including crews from Basingstoke fire station, were called to the scene between Whitchurch and Burghclere at around 3.45pm yesterday afternoon.
BASICS Hampshire doctors Lou Chan and Bruce Armstrong worked with their colleagues to treat the injured.
Dr Chan, a consultant at Basingstoke hospital, said: “We were able to give analgaesia and do splints where they were needed – and we’ll be following up.”
The road remained closed for much of yesterday, with traffic diverted at Bullington Cross and the A343.
