THE heart-warming story of a girl and her horse has been praised at the recent ISA Film and Digital Art Competition.

Sherfield School student Tilly Redman was the runner-up in the competition which celebrates the artistic talents for students in Key Stage 2 and 3 at schools across the UK.

The 12-year-old’s film told the story of her relationship with her horse Bess, who for a long period was unwell, meaning Tilly was unable to ride her.

Tilly’s film was entered in the short film category where entrants had to produce a film no longer than five minutes.

“I am very happy with the result of the competition as, although I hoped my short film would be liked, I didn’t expect to come second in my section,” said Tilly.

“I was very proud and excited to hear the news and I would definitely like to enter more competitions in the future.”

Tilly’s video was only beaten by a GCSE music student, but she did see off competition from many students older than herself.

The Year 8 student has already created a number of films and is building up a following on her YouTube channel, ‘showjumpingbess’, where one of her videos has already passed 5,000 views.

Currently her video entry for the competition called ‘Say you won’t let go’ is just shy of 500 views.

“Film making and video editing are definitely things I would like to do in the future,” she added.

“I would love to mix my two passions of horses, riding and all things equestrian with film making and video editing.

“I will be spending a day at a film production company in the Christmas holidays, where I will be learning about professional software and different camera techniques. I would love to learn to become more professional in my films.”
