THOUSANDS of people took to pounding the pavement for a host of good causes in the London Marathon yesterday (April 22).

Among the runners were plenty of people from Basingstoke and the surrounding area, all of whom making the effort for charities that they believe in, battling through the heat of the weekend to support all the different causes.

Over 40,000 total participants made their way through the streets of London, running the whole 26.2-mile race while enduring temperatures of up to 24C.

The people of Basingstoke did the town proud with people running for all sorts of causes, both local and national.
