THE dedication of members of a hospital choir has been rewarded.
The Basingstoke Hospital Male Voice Choir has been presented with a WOW! Award for its fundraising and dedication to providing music for patients and staff at the hospital.
The award was presented by the president of the choir, Myrddin Rees, consultant in hepatobiliary, at a rehearsal in the hospital's restaurant on Wednesday last week.
The choir was nominated for a WOW! Award by Caroline Price whose nomination read: "I would like to nominate this group of singers, which has been running for six years started by Andrew Long, for the hard work and pleasure they provide throughout the year. For providing music for staff and patients weekly, raising funds for several charities and giving up their free time to sing in concerts; they are a credit to the hospital."
The choir regularly performs at fundraising events, principally for Ark Cancer Centre Charity however, on June 23 this year the choir is hosting Pontypridd Male Voice Choir with a joint concert at All Saints Church with proceeds going to the local branch of Parkinson's UK.
