A RESIDENTIAL care home has been given a clean bill of health in its latest inspection report.

Oakley Lodge, based in Worting Road, received its latest rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following an inspection on February 6 and 7 with the healthcare watchdog giving a verdict of ‘good’ overall, with all areas of the report being rated ‘good’.

The home provides accommodation for 12 people who live with a learning disability, autism or other health needs.

The report praised the staff, saying that they were caring. Part of the report read: “People were consistently treated with kindness and compassion in their day-to-day care and support.

“Staff showed concern for people’s wellbeing in a caring and meaningful way, and responded to their needs quickly.

“People valued their relationships with staff and felt that they often went “the extra mile” for them when providing care and support.”

The manager at Oakley Lodge, Sabrina Cooke, said: “We are all extremely proud of our inspection outcome at Oakley lodge. The people living here have all made really positive achievements since moving into the home and we look forward to continuing to support them to reach their goals.

“I am extremely fortunate to have a hard working and dedicated team who are committed and passionate about the care and support they give to the individuals we care for.

“We like to have fun at the home and enjoy being an active part of the local community. All the individuals we support are very sociable and enjoy attending social clubs, parties and other events. The team are committed to supporting each person to be as independent as they possibly can and we also like to make sure Oakley Lodge is a warm, welcoming and homely place to live.

“We are also very thankful to all the relatives and family members that have supported us since opening, along with all the social workers and health professionals who have worked in partnership with us to ensure the best possible outcomes for the individuals we support.

“We will continue to work hard, celebrating each person’s achievements and reflecting on our practices so that we develop and improve the service even further and hopefully achieve ‘outstanding’ at our next inspection.”
