A FORMER Hatch Warren resident will be aiming to be pitch perfect when he takes to the stage on national TV.

Matt Vaughan will take centre stage on the new ITV show Change Your Tune which airs on Sunday, 22 April.

The show pits five tone deaf contestants against each other as audiences see them transformed into singing pros.

Matt will be among four other contestants who will be singing for the chance to win £10,000.

The five initially terrible singers will be tasked with improving their voices before performing in front of a live studio audience.

The time lapse format of the show means viewers will get to see the transformations from awful singer to polished performer in an instant.

Then it is down to the studio audience to score each performance and the level of improvement ultimately deciding who has “Changed Their Tune” the most.

Matt said: “I have always wanted to be able to sing, but have never found the time, with having a 20-month-old, working full-time and vlogging takes up majority of my waking hours, so this was the perfect opportunity to have coaching from some of the industry’s best singing teachers to see if they could change my speak singing voice into something musical in which people could actually tell what I am trying to sing.

“Since somehow finding the time to travel to London for singing lessons, I have now relocated there and going to the gym to help my fitness ambitions.”

Matt is known locally for being a DJ, as he held a residency at Basingstoke’s bowling centre for seven years in which he entertained children at their birthday parties and also provided music entertainment for the adults in the evening.

He is also a blogger and vlogger for The Diet Journey which has more than 14,000 followers, where he details his challenge to lose weight.

He calls it “One Man’s journey to fight the flab”.

Matt’s YouTube channel has diet cooking recipes which sees him, at times, use only three cooking utensils and he cuts chicken with scissors to save washing up.

Matt uses his blog to help influence others to follow a healthy diet as well as using it for his own motivation, kick-starting the weight loss programme on the same date each year.

Change Your Tune has been created by Twofour which was the team which produced Davina McCall’s This Time Next Year.

The show is hosted by Irish radio and TV personality Baz Ashmawy.

On hosting the show Baz said: “I’m so excited to be looking for, not the very best singers in the country, but the very worst.

“This is a completely unique take on the singing show genre - it’s a feel good and celebratory show that’ll have everyone at home cheering on their favourite; it’s going to be great fun.”

The show is on ITV 1 from 4pm.
