A SUPERMARKET has announced a Black Friday deal that reduces the price of fuel by 10p per litre.

Morrisons in Basingstoke has announced that the supermarket chain is reducing the price of fuel by 10p-a-litre for its customers, this follows fuel prices forecast to rise and the Chancellor who is set to decide whether fuel duty will rise in this week’s budget.

Morrisons Basingstoke is making the cuts to help motorists with the cost of diesel and unleaded during the pre-Christmas shopping spree, including Black Friday.

Economists are predicting an increase in the price of fuel before Christmas by a potential rise of 8p a litre, following an increase in the price of oil of more than 30% since the summer.

Steve Mosey, Morrisons Services Director, said: “Motorists could face a triple-whammy of rising petrol prices, extra fuel tax and a busy Christmas shopping season so we’re doing what we can to help them afford to run their cars.”

For a typical 50 litre car, motorists will save £5 every time they fill their car up.

The price could also rise if the Chancellor Philip Hammond increases the rate of fuel duty in line with inflation. There has been speculation about a possible rise in fuel duty after a freeze for seven successive years.

The Black Five Days Fuel will be available to customers who spend £50 in Morrisons stores, not from the online stores, from November 20 to 26.

Customers will receive a voucher that will allow them to pay the lower price between November 20 and December 3.

This comes in a long line of Black Friday deals that Morrisons are doing for the run up to Christmas, which has included a magnum of Canti Prosecco for £10 and their Gin advent calendar for £60.

The limited time only deals are being announced on the Morrisons website every day and can be found on their website; my.morrisons.com/blackfriday/
