BASINGSTOKE hospital is hosting a special walk-in clinic for anyone who might be worried about mouth cancer.
The clinic will be held on Wednesday, November 26, at the hospital, in Aldermaston Road, between 2.30pm and 4pm.
Mike Bater, Hampshire Hospitals consultant oral and maxillofacial surgeon, holds a walk-in clinic every year as part of Oral Cancer Awareness Month, which runs throughout November.
The clinic will be held in the oral and facial surgery department, in main outpatients at the hospital.
Possible symptoms of mouth cancer include a mouth ulcer that has not healed after three or four weeks, a lump or red/white patch in the mouth lining which is increasing in size, and a neck lump which is not decreasing in size.
Mr Bater said: “Mouth cancer is a serious disease with a relatively low profile, which is often detected late.
“I recommend anyone experiencing any of these symptoms to attend the walk-in clinic for an examination.”
No appointment is necessary. For more information, visit mouthcancer.org.
