RESIDENTS in Overton could hear the roaring of engines as the village acted as the finish line for a classic car rally.

Now in its second year, the event on Sunday, organised by and in aid of the North Hampshire Medical Fund, saw cars again using the picturesque backdrop of north Hampshire’s country as its route.

In total 42 vehicles took place in this year’s rally, including Ferraris, Porsches and TVRs.

Drivers met at the Duncan Hamilton Rofgo, in Duke Street, Micheldever before departing to take part in stage one at Middle Wallop Airfield, which consists of a two and a half mile stretch of track.

Drivers then continued on to Petersfield before finishing up at Ashe Park, Overton for refreshments following the rally.

There were collection buckets at each stage and at the finish line with all the money raised from the event going to the charity.

The charity is still calculating the total amount raised from the event, with all the money going to help provide support and equipment for Basingstoke hospital.
