A BASINGSTOKE-based hospital radio station is in the running for five national awards.

The 2018 National Hospital Radio Awards are less than two weeks away and Hospital Radio Basingstoke (HRB) has been nominated in five categories.

One of the nominations is the show promo for Sarah Beattie’s Spooky Hallowe’en Special in Best Station Promotion, the category in which the station won bronze at the 2017 awards.

Also nominated was HRB’s coverage of the Hampshire Hospitals Open Day which was held at Basingstoke hospital in September, a programme marking World Sight Day in October was nominated in the category of Best Speech Package and the presenter of that show Christine Rowley was also nominated in Best Female Presenter, a category in which she has previously won the silver award.

Finally, the station itself is once again nominated in the Station of the Year.

It is the second year in a row that HRB has achieved five nominations and only one station in the UK has more.

The gala awards evening takes place in Windsor on March 24.

HRB is currently looking for volunteers to join the team.

Anyone interested in volunteering at HRB should go to hrbasingstoke.co.uk/ to complete an application form.
