TWO dance crews based at a Basingstoke academy have secured places in the grand finals of a national competition.

Street dance crews OMG and SYNERGY, from Happy Feet Dance Academy, based in Bach Close, have earned places in the finals of Britain Does Variety.

After a successful initial video audition, both crews were invited to perform at the regional shows at The Princes Theatre in Andover on October 28 to perform in front of judges.

OMG was one of four groups to be selected out of 18 competing in the under 16 category with SYNERGY one of five groups to be selected for the finals out of 23 acts in the over 16 categories. The grand finals will be held in January

Choreographer Mia Stewart said: “I am incredibly proud of both crews for successfully securing a place in the grand finals of Britain Does Variety.

“It was our first time competing in this particular national competition and the standard was very high in both age categories, with a real variety of talents on show.

“Our feedback from the judges was amazing and all of my dancers are very excited for the grand finals in Wellingborough in January.”

OMG and SYNERGY are the academy’s professional street dance crews and rehearse weekly in Basingstoke. OMG dancers are aged eight to 12 years-old and SYNERGY dancers are aged between 16 and 30. For more information, email miastewart08@hotmail.co.uk.
