THE Arts Society Basingstoke has celebrated 25 years of being a part of The Arts Society.

Members were joined by guests including mayor of Basingstoke and Deane Councillor Paul Frankum and mayoress Cllr Jane Frankum and the National Chair of The Arts Society, June Robinson BEM, at a lecture on October 18.

The lecture was an illustrated talk by Adam Busiakeiwicz on musical instruments in paintings and included live performances on the lute.

The lecture ended with a speech from Mrs Robinson, who commended the hard work of Basingstoke society founders Val Sinden and Sue Marcheselli and committees past and present. The celebration ended with drinks and cake.
