MORE than 70 singers descended on Festival Place for a special performance.

Singers from the group Sing Now Choir surprised shoppers with a flash mob performance of How Far I’ll Go from Disney’s Moana.

The event which took place on Saturday, 14 October was part of Festival Place’s 15th birthday celebrations, started with one singer being joined by members who had travelled from Southampton, Fareham and Bournemouth to take part.

Posing as shoppers scattered across the lower ground shopping floor, dead on 11am, Festival Place customers started to hear the familiar chords of Disney’s latest smash hit soundtrack.

Once the song had finished, performers picked up their shopping and went about their day as if nothing had happened.

As well as being part of Festival Place’s birthday celebrations, the choir’s performance also aimed to raise awareness and funds for The Red Lipstick Foundation.

The foundation is dedicated to supporting families bereaved by suicide and are passionate about raising awareness of mental health issues.

At the time of publication, the video of the flash mob has been viewed more than 600,000 times.

Due to the response, Sing Now Choir is looking to start a branch in Basingstoke, for more details visit singnowchoir.com.
