HOOK Village Show proved to be a big hit with the event attracting a huge crowd.

The show took place on Sunday, 10 September in Hartletts Park, with the event including the Hook Flower and Produce Show, where villagers showed off their gardening and craft skills.

There were also presentations for the Hook in Bloom competition (see below), Flower and Produce Show winners, Hook History Society Photographic competition winners, and a trophy for Best in Show at Hook’s first dog show.

Villagers tried their luck at various activities at the stalls, and had the opportunity to meet animals like ferrets and donkeys.

Elsewhere, the Cove Brass Band played and guests showed off their four-legged canine companions in the dog show.

The winner of the inaugural dog show was a German Shepherd, Rex, whose owner was awarded a trophy.

The winners of £100 donated by John and Bernice Wall for the tug of war challenge was The Base Youth Club which is splitting the prize money between the club itself and the Tesco charities of the British Heart Foundation and Diabetes UK.

Councillor Sue Hinton said: “It was fantastic to see so many villagers enjoying themselves and bumping into people they hadn’t seen for a while.

“Everyone loved the Flower and Produce Show and we heard lots of comments from people saying they would be entering next year.

“It has been super to see so many volunteers led village organisations working together to put on such a successful event.”
