A BASINGSTOKE youngster had a dream day when he walked out at the iconic Wembley Stadium.

On Sunday, 6 August, Brayden Bavister experienced a moment to remember for the rest of their life when he walked out at the home of English football ahead of the start of The FA Community Shield between Arsenal and Chelsea.

Brayden, 10, got the opportunity, as a McDonald’s player escort, to step out in front of over 80,000 fans at Wembley alongside Arsenal player Granit Xhaka at the first competitive game ahead of the 2017/18 Premier League season.

The match ended up with Arsenal lifting the trophy after winning 4-1 in a penalty shootout.

Brayden, who won the chance to be a player escort by winning a competition on the McDonald’s Better Play website, said; “It was amazing to walk on the Wembley pitch and there were so many fans in the seats cheering us. All of my friends at home were really jealous of me and I’m happy we got to see some goals in the match.”

Sir Geoff Hurst, McDonald’s director of football, said: “Walking out at Wembley in front of over 80,000 fans is an amazing experience! It’s something that I have been lucky enough to do in my career so I know exactly what it feels like to hear the crowd cheering you on. The current Arsenal and Chelsea players are inspirational to so many children up and down the country and I’m sure Brayden will remember this day for a long time.”
