A SUMMER festival that is celebrating all of the activities in the borough week by week has just passed its first week.

The Made In Basingstoke festival, taking place from July 14 to August 13, will be having four themed weeks, titled Create, Taste, Discover, and Make.

The first of the weeks that took place was taste-themed, which saw Festival Place and The Malls become an area ripe for food as local businesses and stallholders where they could sell their wares this weekend.

One of the many activities that took place on the weekend was the Mystery of the Star-Eaters, where around 120 participants were given a case file to solve around the town.

They had to find clues that pertained to the answer of the mystery by going around the town and spotting the clues as they were left in or near businesses.

Karen Wild, chief executive of Basingstoke Together, the town’s Business Improvement District (BID) said: “It was busy and it was also well received. It was a great experience and we had some really good feedback about the detective case, some people were saying that they had been to shops and areas of town that they didn’t even know were there.

“It is also about showing off Basingstoke and the businesses that are here.”
