A HOOK designer has scooped a top award at the world’s largest flower show.
Rose McMonigall, of Dipley Mill, won a silver gilt medal for her The Pazo’s Secret Garden at the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower show.
Her design, which featured on BBC2’s coverage of the show, celebrated the gardens of the historic Pazos in the Galician region of north-west Spain. Her design was for the Spanish Tourist Office and Turismo de Galicia.
Rose said: “I’m thrilled to have won a silver gilt award and have been overwhelmed by the positive comments of show visitors. They have been saying the garden was a really relaxing and romantic space, drawing them in to its story and evoking lots of happy memories.”
This is the second year Rose has designed a show garden for the Spanish Tourist Office; last year’s was also awarded a silver gilt medal.
Javier Piñanes, Director of the Spanish Tourist Office UK, added: “Rose’s design successfully captured the mystery, romanticism and intimacy of Galicia’s Pazos, their surrounds, and of Galicia as a whole, using both plant-based and architectural references.
“We are delighted that visitors to the show have been inspired by her perceptive interpretation of the magic of Galicia’s Palaces and her encapsulation of the region’s appeal more widely.”
