SMOKE was seen coming from a listed building in Basingstoke as fire crews tackled a blaze.

Crews from Basingstoke and Tadley were called to the old Eli Lilly building off Kingsclere Road at 12.34pm, on July 13.

A fire had started on the third floor of the building, which is due to be turned into flats as part of the Chapel Gate development.

Flames were put out quickly with one hose reel though the flames had heavy smoke inside the buildings which crews stayed on site to ventilate.

Crews were on scene for less than an hour.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed the cause of the fire is not under investigation.
