MANY years ago dinosaurs walked the earth, and for thousands of years people have been trying to find out more about these magnificent creatures.

However, they now once again walk among us and will be coming to Basingstoke.

On May 20 and 21 audiences at the Anvil are invited to grab their compasses and join Miranda as she takes you on a journey through her Dinosaur World.

Miranda – played by Danielle Fragg – was washed up on an island and soon discovered it was inhabited with Dinosaurs, now she is travelling the world bringing her new found “pets” with her to teach children about these fascinating creatures.

For Fragg the whole show is just one massive play time with her audience, but she told The Gazette she is always amazed at the knowledge the children have.

She said: “The show is an educational and interactive show, and even though it is Miranda who brings the dinosaurs to the people of Basingstoke, it is their interaction and relationship with the audience that really makes the show.

“I am always amazed at how much the children know when they come up on stage, they tell me all these facts and what their favourite dinosaur is.

“When I say to them they should come work with me on the island they get so excited about it, it is just the best feeling.”

Children will be able to meet the flesh-eating giant, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Triceratops, Giraffatitan and Segnosaurus, to name a few.

All the pre-historic animals will be operated by puppeteers and Fragg said she is always amazed at the work of her co-stars.

She added: “A lot of the show is improvised which was a great challenge for me, but once you get out of your body and you appreciate how great the puppeteers are they give these dinosaurs a real identity.”

To get into the role Fragg did a lot of research into dinosaurs and female explorers.

“The script was well researched but I learnt a lot about the dinosaurs, but I also did a lot of research about female explorers and palaeontology in general. I enjoyed learning about all their proper names and where they were discovered.”

Dinosaur World will be on at the Anvil on May 20 and 21, more information and tickets are available from anvilarts.org.uk.
